Consciousness is binary. This is the most important realisation that I was able to bring back from the experience of absolute consciousness. Either you are aware of an existence or you are not.
What do I mean by ‘absolute consciousness’? Well, absolute consciousness is unconditional being, being without there being anything else. It is the moment when we are aware of our own being.
In our normal everyday life, the moment when we are aware of our existence is determined by chance and external influences and is usually only of very short duration.
The moment when we experience something indescribably beautiful, the thrill of extreme sport but also a shattering diagnosis from the doctor or the moment just before the car crashes into a tree are key moments that make us realise our own existence but also its transience.
It is not a problem to shift our attention from the self to the outside world as long as we don't forget to return. Due to the constant conditioning of our attention to be on the outside, it can happen that we pay less and less attention to the self until at some point it withers away completely and we forget or even reject it. We are then dependent on seeking the energy that actually provides us with the connection to the self, the realisation of our own existence, on the outside and we can only do this by attracting the attention of others.
Any attention on the outside, in the world or in thoughts, prevents the attention from resting on the self. This includes every spiritual practice, every holy scripture, every religion, every belief, unless it is exclusively about practising and remembering the stillness of the realisation of one's own existence.
I have made the meditation available as a download to show you a possible way back to the silence of realising your own existence. In the end, only one question is and remains relevant. How often and for how long are you aware of yourself?
Ask yourself over and over again, when was the last time you were aware of yourself? And ask yourself when the people you meet on your path were last aware of their existence. You will realise how rare, how infinitely exclusive this moment is.
